Flores e Pássaros' Vase
The Flores e Pássaros [Flowers and Birds] vase is a timeless piece of functional art, illustrated by Mariana, a Miserável depicting fauna growing from a gardener's box. This piece is a tribute to João Mértola, a renowned Portuguese potter. The vase is hand-painted by Rosa Baptista, adding a personal touch to each item.
Mariana, a Miserável, born Mariana Santos in 1986 in Leiria, Portugal, is a graphic designer and illustrator known for her unique style. As a child, she dreamt of being a florist, but her path led her to a life of "misery, cesspit, and rock'n'roll." She studied graphic design at Escola Superior de Artes e Design in Caldas da Rainha, where she developed her distinctive "not-knowing-how-to-draw" style.
This vase is part of a collection made of terracotta, illustrated by various artists during a creative residency in Viana do Alentejo. It's a perfect blend of practicality and art, bringing a touch of Portugal's rich pottery tradition to your home.
